The stages of drywall ceiling installation

Before installing drywall you need to prepare the installation site and special working tools, and purchase the right materials. Drywall installation and repair shall be performed as follows:

Lay-out of mounting holes on the ceiling. First, using a water-level, snap a chalk strictly horizontal line across the perimeter of the room to mark the drywall ceiling level. Then mark the mounting holes for plumbs. As a result, you have got 60 x 60 cm grid squares on your ceiling.

Strapping the ceiling. It follows a certain sequence of activities:

• hanging the track;
• installing the П-shaped plumbs;
• fastening ceiling stubs.

Using a water-level regularly. It is preferable to fasten long stubs in parallel with the window, so that the sheetrock goes along with the light. Such an approach makes joints less obvious.

Hanging the drywall sheets. Here are the rules of performing the work:

• the sheet end shall land on a strapping piece;
• the screw heads shall be driven down past the top of the drywall;
• the screws are evenly spaced along the strapping at a distance of 25 – 30 mm;
• the buffer zones (10 – 15 mm) shall be left on edges;
• such construction works shall not be done alone.

Painting and finishing. This last stage is recommended to be performed using some masking tape to cover the seams. Lighting layout shall be done before applying the last coat. The quality of painting shall be checked under natural light.

Alignment of surfaces by installation of drywall. Dry plastering.

Installation of gypsum plasterboard walls.

It's possible to construct additional walls in the rooms with help of gypsum plasterboard. It is suitable for apartments and houses with a small number of rooms. For example, it's real to get two small rooms in a single-bedroom apartment by installation of gypsum plasterboard walls. Due to such property of drywall sheets as bending not only smooth-faced wall can be installed, but also wall with the bends of any complexity, with shelves, mezzanines. Installation of gypsum plasterboard walls will allow to create additional noise insulation in the room. And light weight of material will not create additional load on the floor.

Installation of drywall ceiling.

Installation of drywall in a warm and cold way.

Warm method.

It means installation of gypsum plasterboard with warming. The choice of insulant depends on room. For example, roll insulant is suitable for balcony, as it doesn't allow to make less evident useful space. Rock wool in slab is the most suitable for heat insulation of walls.

Cold method.

It doesn't make sense to insulate walls in room during installation of gypsum plasterboard, if foreside is already insulated, or the room is exploited only in summertime (for example country house). The installation of panels is carried out by standart method in such cases: installation of frame, attachment gypsum plasterboard sheets.
